When You Feel Left Out
God sees you and knows you by name. Your worth is never decided by a crowd.
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.”
Psalm 139:1Being left out is one of the achiest feelings there is. Maybe the game started without you, or the group text didn't include your name.
When that happens, it is easy to believe a lie: that you don't matter, or that something is wrong with you. But feelings are not always the truth. The truth is that God knows you completely — every thought, every hope, every hair on your head — and He still chooses you.
In Psalm 139, King David is amazed that God knows him so well and stays close no matter where he goes. You are never picked last with God. You were never an accident. Before a single day of your life happened, He already loved you.
So when a crowd forgets you, remember Who never does. Your value doesn't come from being invited — it comes from being made and loved by God.
Let's think about it
- When was the last time you felt left out? What did it make you believe about yourself?
- What does it change to know that God knows you by name and chose you?
- Is there someone around you who might feel left out right now?
A little prayer
Dear God, thank You that You see me and know me. When I feel left out, help me remember that I belong to You. Help me notice others who feel forgotten, and include them the way You include me. Amen.
Try this today
Look for one person today who seems alone — at recess, at lunch, or online — and invite them in. A small “Want to join us?” can change someone's whole day.
