Before there was anything at all, there was God. And God was about to make something wonderful.
Before the beginning
At the very start there was no sky, no sea, no sun — and no you. Everything was dark and empty. But God was there, and God had a plan. Genesis 1 tells us how the whole world began.
“Let there be light”
God spoke, and light shined in the dark. God saw that the light was good. He called the light “day” and the dark “night.” That was the very first day.
Sky, sea, and dry land
God made the big blue sky above. He gathered the waters into seas and let dry land appear. Then green grass, tall trees, and bright flowers grew — every kind of plant, full of seeds to grow even more.
Sun, moon, and stars
God set the warm sun to shine by day and the gentle moon and twinkling stars to glow by night. They help us know the days, the seasons, and the years.
Creatures everywhere
God filled the seas with splashing fish and the sky with singing birds. He made animals of every kind — hopping, crawling, galloping, and roaring. And God saw that it was good.
God made people
Then God made people — the very first man and woman. He made them like Himself, to know Him, love Him, and care for His world. God blessed them with joy.
Very good
God looked at everything He had made, and it was very good. On the seventh day God rested. The whole world was a gift, made with love.
⚓ The big truth
God made everything good on purpose — the stars, the seas, the animals, and you. You are part of God's very good world.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

Talk about it
- What is your favorite thing God made? Why?
- The Bible says God's world was “very good.” How can we take care of it?
- God made you on purpose. How does that make you feel?
Let's pray
Dear God, thank You for making such a beautiful world — the sky, the sea, the animals, and me. Help me love what You made and take good care of it. Amen.
Try this at home
Go on a “creation walk.” Count how many good things God made that you can see, hear, or touch — and say “thank You, God!” for each one.
